It would seem that the white van is the main van that the police track for criminal activity but why is this?

The only people that he went for were in cars themselves. It was reported by several victims and also drawn out several times. He murdered five people and attempted to do it to another seven.
So as you can see the vehicles that criminals choose are ever changing and it is only so long before the criminal chooses another one over the white van. The van seems to be chosen because it is suitable for any criminal activity which is the only downside to the vehicle.
